Monica is the founder of Fx Therapies. She is a Pennsylvania & New Jersey licensed Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Myofunctional Therapist. Monica strives to find the ‘root cause’ to treat speech, language, feeding, and orofacial myofunctional disorders rather than the symptoms. She uses a holistic approach when looking at her clients both in her assessments and treatment. Monica specializes in treating pediatric and adult Speech Sound Disorders SSD (articulation and phonological disorders), Oral Motor Disorders (apraxia of speech, dysarthria, and oral motor-based feeding disorders), and Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (nasal breathing, proper oral rest posture of the lips and tongue, proper chewing and swallowing, oral habit elimination). Monica has specific training for oral motor-based speech and feeding disorders including OPT, OMT, PROMPT, and DTTC.
I am on a mission to help my clients become functional breathers, eaters and communicators.
As a speech and myofunctional therapist who has struggled with breathing and sleep issues my whole life I realized that insufficient sleep and breathing has a negative impact on performance, behavior, and the health of our children and adults as it once did on me.
My whole life I was a mouth breather, snored at night, had an open mouth posture, was always fatigued and ran out of steam quickly in sports. I was ALWAYS sick, had anxiety and just wasn’t living optimally. I had multiple surgeries to ‘correct’ my breathing yet I still felt like I wasn’t breathing well.
I recall a few years back when I learned there was a therapy called, myofunctional therapy, that worked on re-establishing nasal breathing, creating an optimal oral rest posture with your tongue resting on the roof of your palate that also encompassed appropriate swallowing for an optimal oral environment. It was exactly what I needed. I immediately found the benefits of creating a new way of breathing and swallowing that improved my quality of life.
I help my clients prioritize their breathing, eating and communication skills to achieve optimal health and live to their fullest potential. At Fx Therapies I do this by preventing disorders through teaching and spreading awareness, promoting optimal development, diagnosing the disorder by its root cause and treating it to restore function.
With the right tools my clients can achieve functional breathing, eating and communication skills.
Testimonals.
